Set Up Voicemail Greeting
Go to https://agentclara.app/agent > Voicemail and write what callers hear: Good example:“Hi, thanks for calling [Your Business]. We’re not available right now, but we’ll call you back within 24 hours. Please leave your name, number, and a brief message.”Keep it under 15 seconds. Clara will automatically record what they say after your greeting.
Find Voicemail Messages
All voicemail shows up in your main inbox: https://agentclara.app/chats Look for:- From: Customer’s phone number
- Type: “Voicemail” (with a voicemail icon)
- Transcript: What they said (text below the message)
- Full transcript
- Original audio (play button)
- Timestamp
- Customer’s number
Read the Transcript
The transcription is usually accurate, but not perfect. Listen to the audio if:- Something doesn’t make sense
- You need to catch the exact tone
- The customer spoke very fast or with an accent
Respond to Voicemail
Once you read the transcript, you can: Option 1: Call Them Back- Copy their number from the voicemail
- Call them directly
- Click “Reply”
- Send a text message back
- This shows in the same conversation thread
- Click the message
- Add internal notes for your team
Set Hours for Voicemail
By default, voicemail is available 24/7. You can change this: Go to Settings > Business Hours and set when voicemail is active. Common setup:- Business hours: Clara answers
- After hours: Voicemail available
Voicemail Best Practices
Keep the greeting short. Callers don’t want to listen for 30 seconds.
Be specific about response time. “We’ll call you back within 2 hours” is better than “as soon as possible.”
Give clear instructions. “Please leave your name, number, and reason for calling” helps you get the info you need.
Update your greeting seasonally. “We’re closed for the holidays” or “We’re very busy this week” sets expectations.
Check voicemails daily. Don’t let messages pile up—respond within your promised timeframe.
Transcription Accuracy
Our transcription is 90-95% accurate, but errors can happen:- If the customer spoke very fast
- If there’s background noise
- If they have a heavy accent
- If they speak a mix of languages
- Listen to the audio
- Understand what they actually said
- Reply accordingly
- (Errors help us improve over time)

- Settings > Notifications — voicemail alerts enabled?
- Check your email spam folder
- Make sure you’re logged in to the dashboard

Can I disable voicemail and route calls to my cell phone instead?
Yes. Go to Agent > Escalation and set your cell phone number. All calls go directly to you.(Voicemail will still be available as a backup if you don’t answer.)
